25th April
Brentwood Victorians - 196-6
South Woodford - 197-2
South Woodford won by 8 wickets
40 over game
Report by Mick Pinkney
South Woodford arrived at the OCG expecting to face the Brentwood first team but instead found the Victorians to be their opposition.
Skipper Trevor Coote failed to arrive in time for the toss but stand in tosser Ash Patel called correctly and the Victorians were batting. Opener Shane Surujbally, after his platinum duck the previous week, chose not to face the first ball. A decision fellow opener Des Alford appreciated as he edged the second ball to first slip for a duck!
Dave Balroop joined Surujbally and the pair seemed set for a good partnership against a strong South Woodford attack. The pair added 27 when Surujbally was well caught at mid wicket for 11.
Roger Mahadeo went for a golden duck which left Mick Pinkney to successfully see off the hat trick ball. Pinkney added 19, Kris Ali and Sam Ali 4 and 2 respectively as Balroop began to run out of partners. Ash Patel provided the necessary support as the pair added 101 as the inning came to close at 196 for 6. Balroop scored a magnificent 114 not out against one of the best bowling attacks the Victorians have faced.
South Woodfords openers, M Brown and H Neicho, raced to 58 of the first 5 overs before Chris Jolly had Browne well caught by Sam Ali at mid off. Balroop restricted the run rate, 21 runs off 5 overs. Only 1 more wicket fell as A Leat was caught by Pinkney off the bowling of Fernhead. South Woodford comfortably reached their target in the 26th over. Heicho an impressive 81 not out.

23rd May
Brentwood Victorians - 212-5
Raphaels - 214-1
Raphaels won by 9 wickets
40 over game
Report by Mick Pinkney
On a glorious summers day Skipper Trevor Coote, to the relief of his team, won the toss and the Victorians were batting.
Openers Ben Holmes and Roger Mahadeo found run scoring difficult as Raphaels opening bowlers started with 6 maidens. When the first wicket fell in the 10th over only 7 runs were on the board. Mick Pinkney and Greg Holmes both registered ducks and debutant Stuart Wilsher added only 7 which left the Victorians innings reeling at 70 for 5 off 24 overs.
Dave Balroop joined Shane Surujbally and the pair began to repair the innings as they enjoyed an unbeaten 142 run partnership. Surujbally was in particularly destructive form as he reached his century in the last over. His 100 came off 85 balls with his second 50 of only 34 balls. Balroop finished 69 not out.
The Victorians greatly assisted the Raphael reply as they dropped 7 catches. Opener Bichard was dropped in the first over and went on to score a match winning 112 not out. The only wicket fell when the match was virtually over with the score on 187. Raphaels reached their target in the 37th over.

13th June
Brentwood Victorians - 180-8
South Weald - 86 all out
Victorians won by 74 runs
40 over game
Report by Mick Pinkney
After suffering 2 successive weeks of late opposition cry offs, the Victorians were relieved to be making the short trip to South Weald and pleased to playing cricket again.
Trevor Coote won the toss and didn’t hesitate to bat. Graham Walker, making a long overdue Victorian debut, opened the batting with his son Ollie and the pair found run scoring difficult against a lively and accurate South Weald attack. Rob Hull bowled a very impressive spell as he took both Walker wickets as he finished with excellent figures of 8 overs 6 maidens 7 for 2.
Joe Pummell came on as first change and bowled with great pace, taking a further 2 wickets leaving the Victorians struggling at 52 for 5 off 19 overs. Mick Pinkney joined Shane Surujbally and the pair decided attack was the best form of defence as they went after the South Weald bowling. Pinkney added 18 as Surujbally, receiving further support from Dave Balroop, 10, and Coote, 12 not out, went on to record an unbeaten 80. The Victorians total, helped by 31 extras, looked to be a competitive score on a wicket which provided assistance to length bowling.
James Boon and Dave Balroop opened the Victorians bowling and Balroop struck with his first ball by catching the dangerous Chambers off his own bowling. Mick Pinkney and Jof Fernhead replaced the opening bowlers and the veteran Victorians shared 8 wickets to end the game as a contest. Pinkney, with a mix of long hops, wides and full tosses somehow took 3 wickets and Fernhead, who bowled magnificently, deservedly finished with excellent figures of 8 overs 2 maidens 15 for 5 off his 8 overs. Chris Boon took the last wicket thanks to a fine catch by James Boon at long on.
