U13 Central Essex Cup
Brentwood Captain Ravi Rupal won the toss and elected to bat on a flat looking Brentwood wicket. Kristen Ali and Ravi made a steady start, with Ali in particular going along nicely in the first few overs. He was punished for his first loose shot, a superb over the shoulder catch in the outfield at point doing for him. The rate increased with Ed Hornby at the crease who kept the scoreboard ticking over. Ravi hit one glorious boundary but was bowled the very next ball. Nine and a half overs had then been bowled and the score was 43-2, we needed to start stepping on the gas. Sam Dawes joined Ed. They did indeed step on the gas with a glorious display of stroke play. The partnership remained unbroken on 99 through the remainder of the innings. Sam hit an unbeaten 56 with Ed agonisingly short of a Half Century on 47 not out.
The Little Baddow side were all quite inexperienced but the still had to be beaten; the game was virtually over though in the very first over, with Ben Churchill taking 2 wickets clean bowled. Prem Pithia bowled at good pace and took a further wicket with a ct and bowled. Most players got a bowl but Douglas Maxwell caught the eye with an awesome display 4-1-3-3 including a hat-trick with his canny leggies. Sam Dawes mopped up the tail 0.5-0-1-2.
