Little known personal fact
I played for Essex Young Amateurs (now known as Essex U17) with Graham Gooch and Keith Pont. At one time I was considered as a possible successor to Robin Hobbs.

Sporting hero(es)
In international cricket it has to be Shane Warne. I feel privileged to have been alive during his whole career. He is without doubt the best bowler I have ever seen. The way he plans a batsman's demise is exceptional.

On a more local level Ken Hobbs. No one has done more to secure the playing future of the Club. We have some great talent coming through but Ken cannot go on doing it for ever. We need more members to take up the mantle from Ken.

Hobbies or Interests
The Old County Ground, Brentwood Cricket Club and Brentwood Hockey Club.

Worst Moment
When I was chairman returning from holiday to find that Paul Lattimore had sent a questionnaire to the whole club seeking their views on the way it was run. In many ways it turned out to be a defining moment because in my last year as Chairman the club enjoyed probably its most successful season.

Most Memorable Match
From a team point of view the 2nd XI game versus Gidea Park & Romford in 1976 to secure the league title - see members articles. From a personal point of view an early season game versus Gravesend at The Bat & Ball Ground. We needed 4 to win off the last ball of the match and I was facing. The ball was dispatched out of the ground into an adjoining petrol filling station never to be seen again. No I didn't believe it either!

Other
On a personal note I am very proud of the role I played in securing the freehold of the Old County Ground for the Cricket, Hockey and Tennis Clubs. It will not stop there as we are already talking about plans to acquire more land on the Merrymeade Estate adjoining our ground and to rebuild/extend the club house.
