Nickname/s
Yoda (click on the photo), Wednesday, Tray, Browns, Ash (mostly given by Ben).

Date of Birth
8th March 1950.

Bats
Right-handed.

Bowls
A bit of this and a bit of that but can't bowl left-handed.

Specialist Fielding Position
Of late, somewhere the ball is not going to go, i.e. hide in the field.

Best Batting
61 not out 1998 2nd team vs Old Brentwoods. Myself and Trevor Coote put on over 130 unbeaten runs to win the game. I invented some new strokes that nobody else could play (hooking over the wicketkeepers head at least on 10 occasions.

Best Bowling
1985 1st XI 5-52 vs Hadleigh including a hattrick ripping out the middle order. 1987 1st XI 5-37 vs Chelmsford when they were at their pomp.

Brentwood CC Member since
1981

On-field Club duties
Captain of 2nd XI 2 seasons and Sunday 1st XI for many, many years. Captain of Bath University.

Off-field Club duties
Treasurer for Social Club and Cricket Club for a long time.

Little known personal fact
I have over 1000 wickets and 6000 runs for Brentwood, scoring 2 hundreds and 11 fifties and getting 5 wickets or more on 26 occasions. I am a doctor (not medical type).

Sporting hero(es)
Any great entertainer such as Ian Botham and Pele.

Hobbies or Interests
Any sport but now retired from most of them except cricket and squash but some say I am past my sell by date for these as well. Films, business.

Worst Moment
Having to face Merv Hughes at Woodford Wells. Going in at No 11 with the team on very few for 9, Merv did not get me out 1st ball so he snarled and foul-mouthed me and bowled 3 bouncers on the trot before yorking me next ball and pointing to the pavilion.

Most Memorable Match
1986 1st XI vs Fives. Chasing 240, out strolls Dickie Mee to join me with the team on 225-9. We scramble a few runs nearly getting run out several times but with 2 balls left Mordrick bowls me a leg stump ball which I heaved over long leg and over the pavilion for 6 to win the game. This is still talked about by some (mainly Doug Allum) whenever I go back to Fives.

Other
I think Brentwood CC is fantastic.
