The Brentwood Cricket Club Project:

Colts Coaching and Development Plan 2007 - 2009

With around 200 Colts current members of varying age and ability it is imperative that our club can offer the community a high standard of cricket coaching, using the best facilities and equipment available, but in a safe working environment. It is also important to provide as much support as possible to our young members in developing not just their cricket skills but their whole life skills.

The Committee have agreed that this aim will be achieved by a combination of:

  1. Engaging more qualified coaches, some specifically aimed at the creation of a women and girl's section.
  2. Arranging youth leadership courses for older Colts as part of their overall development
  3. Attendance by current and new coaches (including older Colts) on accredited ECB coaching courses
  4. Creation of a coaches mentoring programme by senior coaches for the newer members of the coaching team
  5. Child protection, First Aid and other important courses for all relevant members of the club (All captains, managers, committee members and other volunteers)
This increase in coaching capability will enable us to:-
  1. Implement a quality coaching programme for all Colts, regardless of ethnicity, gender or ability.
  2. Cater for all abilities better by enabling the creation of an advanced training programme freeing up capacity within the general coaching programme.
  3. Create a girl's section within the Colts section which will have the potential to grow into a women's team in the Adult Section.
  4. Create a partnership with local special needs school and other organisations.
  5. Run additional Coaching Clinics and master classes open to all in the community (with free places on offer through local schools and other organisations)
These improvements will enhance our facilities and reputation as a community premier league cricket club focusing on youth cricketers of the future, and help many of them towards achieving their ambitions of playing school, club and in some cases county cricket.

Dear Club Members,

The club has received official confirmation that our application to Awards For All England has been successful and that we have been awarded £10,000 - the maximum available through this scheme.

Paul Webb (Chairman of Brentwood CC), Malcolm Webb (President) and Dave Barbone (Colts Chairman) and everyone associated with Brentwood Cricket Club are thrilled to hear the news of our successful application and wish to formally thank everyone at Awards For All for their support for our club's project.

A quote from the President of Brentwood Cricket Club - Malcolm Webb

"This is marvellous news. It will enable us to provide real quality in our coaching and in the quantity needed to support our growing youth membership. This means that we can continue to accept new junior members who want to play cricket at the top club in the area and be trained by our team of qualified coaches.

I look forward to seeing the youngsters play in one of our 6 adult sides as they grow - the Colts are the Premier League players of the future!!"
