Whitsun Cricket Coaching Clinic

Whitsun Cricket Coaching Clinic 2007

Brentwood Cricket Club, with the assistance and support of Brentwood School, are running their second annual Cricket Coaching Clinic during the Whitsun half-term holiday.

We are fortunate in having amongst our membership a number of qualified coaches who will instruct and coach participants in the skills involved in batting, bowling, fielding and wicket-keeping. These include Terry Charrington, former coach at Essex County Cricket Club, Keith Goodman, Phil Rees and Jonathan Walford, our Saturday 1st XI skipper.

The Clinic will take place from Tuesday 29th May to Friday 1st June 2007.

The Venue will be The Old County Ground, Shenfield Road, Brentwood, Essex where participants will register each day. Thereafter they will be dividend into groups by age, and each group will have its own separate location.

The Format will be two hours of coaching by age group commencing at 10.00 am, followed by lunch, and then a further two hours of coaching from 1.00 pm. Participants will have the opportunity of practicing batting and bowling under supervision, in both grass and artificial nets, and practising fielding and wicket-keeping skills on Brentwood Cricket Club's outfield.

On Friday, all participants will have the opportunity of playing in matches against each other to display what they have learnt. In the event of wet weather, the coaches will give instruction in the theory and art of cricket, assisted by videos, in Brentwood Prep School's hall.

The Cost of the 4 day course will be £100.00, which will include all coaching and playing, and a Certificate to show they have completed the course. In addition, the individual in each age group who impresses the chief coaches the most - whether it be by ability, enthusiasm, improvement or attitude - will be awarded a prize. We may be able to accommodate participants for less than the full week (minimum two days: cost £60.00 or £90.00 for three days) but priority will be given to those who can commit to the whole week.

Participants will be in one of the three groups: Under 11 (minimum age 7); Under 14 & Under 17

The Clinic is open to all, irrespective of gender, race, or ability, or even whether the individual has played cricket before. If the individual has his or her own cricket clothing and equipment he / she should wear it, but it is not essential. Appropriate footwear (e.g. trainers) is a requirement, and we should prefer that participants are dressed predominantly in white where possible. Participants should bring their own packed lunch. Supplies of drinking water will be available throughout the day. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend the sessions for part or all of any day (s), including the lunchtime break. Limited parking is available at The Old County Ground and Brentwood School.

The Coaches are all professionally qualified to coach cricket skills. In addition they have all been CRB- checked and attended a First Aid course. They are all members of Brentwood Cricket Club. Moreover, the Club maintains appropriate Public Liability insurance cover.

In order to ensure that the groups are not too large to preclude any individual from receiving his / her fair share of coaching, numbers are STRICTLY LIMITED.
