U16's Match Play 2007
Unfortunately rain halted the start of this match and some 2 hours of play were lost, due to this both team managers and umpires decided to reduce the match from 40 to 30 overs.
Brentwood won the toss and elected to bowl. Mohammed Ali and Nigel Jacob put on 19 runs before James Boon bowled Ali for 3. Raghav Chopra joined Jacob and pushed the score on to 61 before Matt Lowman had Chopra caught behind by Aaron West for 30. Ilford were 61 for 2.
Next in was Akash Mozumder but shortly after this Stockwell dismissed Jacob caught Jack Turner for 24. New batsman Usman Rana helped the score onto 90 before Stockwell had Mozumder caught by Sam Rounce for 6. On the very next ball from Stockwell Rana hit an identical shot to Rounce and was caught for 11. Ilford were now 90 for 5.
Neville Jacob and Gagan Bogal were both dismissed in rapid succession by Lowman both caught, Jacob by Ed Nation for 1 and Bogal by Rounce for 2. Shortly after this Pritvie Sarvaiya was brilliantly run out for 7 by a spectacular shy at the stumps by Jack Denman.
Amir Sheikh was stumped by West bowled Lowman for 5 and Affan Pervez was run out on the last ball of the innings for 4, the not out batsman was Usman Khan for 4.
Ilford were all out for 119 off 30 overs including 22 extras.
Brentwood's innings started briskly with Aaron West and Ed Nation scoring freely until Nation struck a ball straight back to the bowler to be caught and bowled by Mozumder for 11. James Boon was next in and with West in such sparkling form, played a holding role, whilst West took the Ilford bowling attack apart.
It was not long before West had past his 50 and Brentwood were on 90 for 1. Boon was then caught by Mozumder bowled Sarvaiya for 15. Jack Turner joined West at the crease and between them took the score onto a victorious total of 121 for 2 off 23.3 overs including 6 extras.
West was not out 80 hitting one huge six and 9 fours, Turner was the other not out batsman on 9.
In terms of the bowling Matt Lowman (Brentwood) had figures of 6 overs 0 maidens 4 wickets for 27 runs whilst Chris Stockwell (Brentwood) bowled 6 overs 0 maidens 3 wickets for 24 runs.

U16's Match Play 2007
On a day when both sides were missing key players High Roding won the toss and decided to bat. Jack Buttleman and Andrew Hebron moved the score onto 34 before Buttleman was a ledged to be LBW to Matt Lowman for 19.
Angus Burns joined Hebron and put on a partnership of 28 before Hebron was bowled by Danny Chima for 17. Orban Holdgate and Burns stayed together for sometime with the latter being dropped twice before Holdgate was bowled by Zach Clenaghan for 12.
Captain Troy Featherstone joined Burns and moved the score onto 128 for 3 before Burns was caught by Jack Greenwood bowled Clenaghan for 47. A couple of runs later Featherstone was caught Clenaghan bowled Scott Harper-Horn 7.
New batsmen Max Bartell and Rory Banks took the score to 158 for 5 before Banks was out LBW to Harper-Horn for 16. Next in was Mark Townsend but some 20 runs later Bartell was clean bowled by Jack Turner for 22.
Jack Brooke came to the crease to see out the final overs Townsend finished on 10 not out Brooke 0 not out. High Roding were 189 for 7 off 40 overs including 39 extras.
Brentwood's innings started cautiously with Ed Nation and Jack Turner but after 20 overs the away side had accumulated 88 runs for 0 with Nation scoring aggressively.
Unfortunately just after the drinks break Turner was a ledged to be LBW to Townsend for 30. Captain Chris Stockwell played the anchorman but when the score was 129 for 1 he was bowled by Jack Brooke for 7.
Matt Lowman joined Nation and between them pushed the score to 144 for 2 before Nation was caught by William Maundrill bowled Burns for a glorious 74.
Zach Clenaghan had little luck and was clean bowled by Bartell for 0 and Brentwood were 148 for 4.
With Harper -Horn and Lowman now at the crease, and overs running out, both of them decided it was time to push the score along aggressively and took a number of risky singles, unfortunately Lowman was then caught close to the boundary by Maundrill bowled Bartell for 16.
Josh Brown was the next to go when he was stumped by Buttleman bowled Burns for 0 and the away side were in trouble.
Things got worse for Brentwood when Harper-Horn was run out for 6 and Sam Rounce was bowled by paceman Townsend for 5.
Jack Greenwood, making his debut for the under 16's, battled away and looked a classy batsman against the aggression of Townsend.
Unfortunately Danny Chima could not support Greenwood and suffered the same fate as Rounce and was bowled by Townsend for 0.
James Dawes was the last batsmen in and between him and Greenwood survived the allocated number of overs.
At the end Greenwood was 10 not out with Dawes on 3 not out, overall Brentwood had accumulated 174 runs for 9 wickets off 40 overs with 23 extras,15 runs short of the target.
In terms of Achievements Ed Nation (Brentwood) had scored 74 runs hitting 10 fours and looked a class batsman. Angus Burns (High Roding) scored 47 but was dropped twice.
Mark Townsend (High Roding) was the outstanding Bowler of the match taking 3 wickets off 8 overs 3 maidens for 12 runs. Scott Harper-Horn (Brentwood) finished with 2 wickets off 2 overs 0 maidens for 14 runs.
But 'Man of the Match' was Ed Nation with a defiant 74 and he kept wicket for Brentwood in the absence of Aaron West.

U16's Match Play 2007
This was a crucial match for both teams and neither could afford to lose. Brentwood won the toss and decided to bat.
Aaron West and Ed Nation opened the batting and freely pushed the score to 62 before Nation was alleged LBW off the bowling of Soilleux for 24. James Boon joined West and saw the sore move on to 88 before West was trapped LBW off Smith for 54.
Jack Turner was the new batsman and with just one further run scored Boon was caught by Haynes bowled Smith for 7. Chris Stockwell joined Turner and between them tried to recover the situation but when the score had moved on to 116 for 3 Turner was caught by Haynes off Smith for 11.
Unfortunately things got immediately worse for Brentwood when Stockwell was stumped by Vapilwala bowled Rowe for 16 and Brentwood were now 116 for 5.
With two new batsmen at the crease Stuart Harper-Horn and Matt Lowman Brentwood were in trouble the score moved on to 125 before a mix up left Harper-Horn being run out for 7. Sam Rounce joined Lowman and on 137 for 6 Rounce was stumped by Vapilwala bowled Smith for 0.
Jack Greenwood was next in and with only a further 7 runs added to the score he was clean bowled by Soilleux for 3 and Brentwood were 144 for 8.
Whilst this carnage was happening Lowman remained resilient and Zach Clenaghan joined him at the crease. Unfortunately he then capitulated and was caught by Smith bowled Gibbons for 20, Brentwood were now 151 for 9.
Last man in Danny Chima had only just got to the crease when Clenaghan was bowled by Gibbons for 1 and Brentwood was all out. Chima remained not out on 0 and the final score was Brentwood 152 for 10 off 35.5 overs. Their were 9 extras.
Hadleigh openers Vapilwala and Wagstaff had only made 10 runs when Vapilwala was caught by Greenwood bowled Boon for 1. Rowe was the new batsmen and the score had only moved on to 24 before Wagstaff was bowled by Boon for 11. Hadleigh were now 24 for 2.
Linfield joined Rowe and 2 runs later another wicket fell when Rowe was bowled by Turner for 7.
Next in was Soilleux who as a bowler had taken 2 wickets off 6 overs for 22 runs. Likewise with the bat he went from strength to strength and with a supporting role from Linfield moved the score to 99 before Linfield was caught by Greenwood bowled Stockwell for 24.
Gibbons joined the free scoring Soilleux and both batsmen saw the score to 153 for 4 off 35.5 overs to give Hadleigh the victory by 6 wickets. Soilleux was not out on 70 and Gibbons not out 18. Their were 22 extras.
'Man of the Match' was Soilleux (Hadleigh) who scored 70 not out and took 2 wickets off 6 overs for 22 runs. Aaron West (Brentwood) scored an impressive 54 runs hitting 9 fours with both Nation and Lowman with a cameo innings. Unfortunately many of the Brentwood batsmen were unable to go on and build an innings which left them defending a low score and not able to last the full 40 overs.
This loss effectively makes it very difficult for Brentwood to progress into the knock out stages.

U16's Match Play 2007
Brentwood were facing elimination from the tournament unless they could win this match and hope that some of the leading teams lost against weaker opposition. Springfield won the toss and decided to bowl.
Ed Nation and Jack Turner opened the batting but with only 2 runs on the board Nation was caught by (F) Mahmood bowled (A) Frost for 1. Ed Allen who has returned to the side after a long layoff was next in but with only a further 2 runs scored was caught by (F) Mahmood bowled (A) Frost for 2 and Brentwood were 4 for 2.
Scott Harper-Horn joined Turner but with just a further 2 runs scored was out caught Capels bowled (A) Frost for 0. Brentwood were committing cricket suicide and were now 6 for 3.
Next in was Chris Stockwell and whilst the score had moved on to 28 he was then bowled by (F) Mahmood for 8. Matt Lowman joined Turner but things got worse when Jack decided to take a suicide single running Lowman out for 0 and Brentwood were now 33 for 6.
Jack Denman was the new batsman but it was not long before another wicket fell when Turner was bowled by (W) Mahmood for 12.
Denman was next to fall caught & bowled by (W) Mahmood for 9. Sam Rounce and Zach Clenaghan were the two next batsmen to try and stop the rot but it was not long before Clenaghan was clean bowled by Capels for 0 Brentwood were now 58 for 8.
Danny Chima joined Rounce and decided to try and add runs to the depleted score line and hit 3 fours in his innings before he was alleged LBW off Capels for 16.
Last batsman Joe Early joined Rounce and grittily pushed the score to 100 before Rounce was bowled by (F) Mahmood for a gutsy 16 whilst Early was the not out batsman on 8.
Brentwood were 100 for 10 off 34 overs, there was 28 extras.
Springfield openers (F) Mahmood and Coyle had only put 1 run on the scoreboard before Mahmood was alleged LBW to Turner for 0 shortly after this new batsman (W) Mahmood was caught by Rounce bowled Turner for 4 and Brentwood had a dream start.
New batsmen (A) Frost had very little luck and when the score was on 21 for 2 he was clean bowled by Ed Nation for 5. Springfield scored a further 12 runs before losing another wicket that of Coyle caught Allen bowled Nation for 8.
Whilst the home side were 33 for 4 they were still favourites to win the match and Davidson and (C) Frost saw Springfield home taking the score to 104 for 4 off 29.1 overs. Davidson was 37 not out and Frost 27 not out there were 23 extras. Springfield won by 6 wickets.
Both sides had difficulty with the bat and the only creditable innings came from Davidson (Springfield) scoring 37 not out. Bowling wise Ed Nation (Brentwood) bowled 6 overs 2 maidens 2 wickets for 16 runs, Turner (Brentwood) bowled 7 overs o maidens 2 wickets for 17 runs and finally (A) Frost (Springfield )bowled 8 overs 2 maidens 3 wickets for 15 runs, with (W) Mahmood (Springfield) bowling 5 overs 2 maidens 2 wickets for 3 runs.
