Damian Brandy
The following is a letter of introduction from Damian 'Damo' Brandy who joined the club in March 2005.
"Well I'm thoroughly pleased to be able to call myself a Brentwood member as of now. Being released from Leicestershire County Cricket Club in September was a fairly disappointing experience but in the knowledge that I would be returning to my home patch then Brentwood was where I wanted to be.
I should let you know a little bit about me now. My name is Damian Brandy, I am 23 and live in Epping. My cricket started at Woodford Wells nearly 13 years ago before moving on to Billericay more recently. I then moved up to Leicester in the summer of 2001 and spent the next 3 years (summers) on the Leicestershire playing staff.
During this time I represented the county at first class level on 8 occasions and played in 6 National League one-day matches. I was also lucky enough to take part in the revolutionary 20/20 competition (which Leicester happen to be current champions of) over the last 2 seasons.
Unfortunately we parted ways at the end of last season but it was a great learning curve for me playing against some of the best cricketers not only in England but in the world. I'm sure those experiences will stand me in good stead for (hopefully) a further career in the game.
This winter I spent 5 months fine-tuning my skills in Adelaide. I played for the Northern Districts Jets in the local grade system where I did my bit to help them clinch their version of the 20/20 as well as the premiership. Fingers crossed I can do my part to help Brentwood do likewise this season.
After a beer and a chat with Malcolm and Ken a week or so back I officially joined Brentwood and was welcomed to the club. They informed me that Brentwood cricket club is a club to be reckoned with, both on and off the field!! I look forward to both!
Enough from me. I look forward to meeting you all in due course."
