Brentwood Cricket Club, with the assistance and support of Brentwood School, are running a Cricket Coaching Clinic during the forthcoming Whit half-term school holiday.
We are fortunate in having amongst our membership two extremely successful cricketers - Hrishikesh Kanitkar, who has played two Test matches and 34 One-day Internationals so far for India, and Damian Brandy, who has been playing county cricket for Leicestershire CCC for the past three years. These two gentlemen will head up a team of qualified coaches who will instruct and coach participants in the skills involved in batting, bowling, fielding and wicket-keeping.
The Clinic will take place from Tuesday, 31 May to Friday, 3 June.
The Venue will be The Old County Ground, Shenfield Road, Brentwood, where participants will register each day. Thereafter they will be divided into groups by age, and each group will have its own separate location - The Old County Ground; Brentwood School’s Shenfield Road ground and Brentwood School. All locations are adjacent to each other.
The Format will be two hours of coaching by age group commencing at 10.00 am, followed by lunch (which will be provided), followed by two more hours of coaching from 1.30 pm. Participants will have the opportunity of practicing batting and bowling, under supervision, in both grass and artificial nets, and practicing fielding and wicket-keeping skills on Brentwood Cricket Club’s outfield. On Friday, all participants will have the opportunity of playing in matches against each other to display what they have learnt. In the event of wet weather, the coaches will give instruction in the theory and art of cricket, assisted by videos, in Brentwood Prep. School’s hall.
The Cost of the whole week’s course will be £100.00, which will include all coaching and playing, a picnic lunch every day, and a Certificate to show they have completed the course. In addition, the individual in each age group who impresses the chief coaches the most - whether it be by ability, enthusiasm, improvement or attitude - will be awarded an Essex CCC National League shirt.
Participants will be in one of three groups:- Under-11 (minimum age 7); Under-14 and Under-17. The Clinic is open to all, irrespective of gender, race, or ability, or even whether the individual has played cricket before. If the individual has his or her own cricket clothing and equipment he/she should wear it, but it is not essential. Appropriate footwear (e.g. trainers) is a requirement, and we should prefer that participants are dressed predominantly in white where possible. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend the sessions for part or all of any day(s), including the lunchtime break. We regret we cannot provide lunch for them, but they are free to bring their own. Limited parking is available at The Old County Ground and Brentwood School.
The Coaches are all professionally qualified to coach cricket skills. In addition they have all been CRB-checked and attended a first-aid course. They are all members of Brentwood Cricket Club. Moreover, the Club maintains appropriate Public Liability insurance cover.
In order to ensure that the groups are not too large to preclude any individual from receiving his/her fair share of coaching, numbers are STRICTLY LIMITED.
If you wish to reserve a place/places on the course, please print and complete the slip below and return it to the address shown by MONDAY, 23 MAY at the latest, TOGETHER WITH A DEPOSIT OF £25.00 PER PLACE (cheques payable to Brentwood CC). Applications will be dealt with in order of receipt and you will receive an acknowledgement by return. The balance is payable in full at the commencement of the Clinic.
